Let's start at the beginning; I have been a workout enthusiast since I first read "Bodybuilding" Magazine when I was about 13. I would climb on my parents' exercise bench and try to do as much weight as I could. I was a somewhat smaller than average kid at the time. I thought that I would turn into Arnold or Lou
Ferrigno if I pumped iron. But truth be told, I was always playing sports and running around to ever "pack on" muscle. I discovered weightlifting , real weightlifting and fitness in High School playing football and running track. I have been a fitness enthusiast ever since. I have been watching over the years as "kids" have been getting fatter and more lethargic. They are now regarded as the "diabetic" or "diseased generation". I see "kids" drinking super sugared energy drinks, eating fast food for most meals, and in a state of general laziness, glued to the TV,
Xbox,
iPod, and
Facebooking. (My kids are somewhat included in this.) I see "kids" with visceral fat and such horrible body fat percentages that they
literallyt look like they have stuffed a tire into their midsection. I have gotten on my soapbox to friends, family, co-workers, and anyone else that would listen, I have told them what I think about all of this, what I would do if I could change the world. And finally it struck me, the only way i would be able to "change" anything was if I quit ranting and raving and started working on helping. Instead of complaining about the problem, I should become part of the solution. That is where the idea for Family Fitness For Life came about. I am done complaining and whining about obesity, unhealthy living, general disregard for health, and all the "garbage" that is going on in America today. I am now going to be looking for people that want to become part of the solution, looking for people have made a change in their lives for the better, that maybe want to change but maybe don't know where to start, looking for people that are willing to finally take a stand. Family Fitness For Life is not a fad, not a crash diet, not a short term "band aid", it is s collective of people that can educate each other, draw strength from each other, and together set about changing the way we live our lives. It is a change that each family can make together to live a healthier, happier, more fulfilling life. So my question is; What are you? Part of the Problem? Or Part of the Solution?
